From teaching from yoga room to open space near mesmerizing river, SYF leaved no stone unturned to make us happy. At that moment, we forget the fever and fret of the world. The beauties of yoga are unfathomable and unending. One thing is sure. Spirituality believes in human nature and human freedom.

While learning at SYF, I comprehended that asana keeps the balance and maintenance of the body. Regularity in the practice is very necessary if one wants to reap the maximum benefits of asana and pranayama. It sows the seeds of purity in thought, word and deed.

Yogi Simant taught the basic concept of yoga & pranyama in concise form. From mine own experience, I can openly say that whenever you feel uneasy, depressed or dejected, practice yogic breathing. You will be elevated, renovated and filled with joy. Your mind will be filled with beautiful ideas.

As I first get the glimpse of Rishikesh from a hill top, I comprehended why this place is called international capital of yoga. Luckily, when we start the yoga learning session at SYF, there was heavy rush of yoga aspirants in the city. It adds more color and spirit to the local spiritual environment.

The trip was short, yet it left an indelible impression on my mind. Now, I firmly believe that yoga can bring big transformation in your life. It teaches you how to remain cool & calm under all situations & circumstances. I will visit again very soon and undergo extensive training in hatha yoga & kundalini yoga.

Why should I learn yoga? What I would gain in doing so? I was reluctant in the beginning. But on the persuasion of close friends, we approach Yogi Simant, who knows yogasastra and has mastery over it. He cleared our doubts through sensible and reasonable lectures. He selected a nice place on the banks of river.

I learned asana, pranayama and meditation at Spirit Yoga Foundation (SYF). The yoga philosophy taught by Yogi Simant stirred our consciences. It was trance-like experiences when we meditated following his instructions. We spend our vacation in a meaningful way and learned the yogic lifestyle.

We learned that yogis can stop breathing for long periods of time. Pranayama is more than breathe. We have beautiful experience when we breathe in yogic way. There are static and dynamic practices of pranayama. Only advanced practitioners should practice retention, along with inhalation and exhalation.

Don’t assume pranayama as just synchronized deep breathing. The awareness is also involved. It is yogic breathing connected with inhalation, exhalation and retention to enhance your pranic (subtle) energy.

The world looks beautiful when there is inner calmness and there is no disturbance in your mind. In short period of time, I learned a lot regarding the yogic lifestyle and its relevance to modern world.

Yoga has been associated with happiness, love and joy. It soothes our journey stress in a most natural way. The whole experience of learning at Spirit Yoga Foundation was fabulous. I admired the effortless teaching style of Yogi Simant. The chanting of Om mantras was mandatory in class. I learnt a lot in short period.

Yoga is a self-learning process which needs commitment, faith and devotion to guru. Practicing pranayama in the month of spring has its own unique charm. What can be a better experience than learning yoga near beautiful Ganga. We practice simple yogic breathing & meditation techniques.

Now, we can change the breath from one nostril to another quite easily. Even a few days’ practice convinced us of its remarkable glory. We learned inhaling through both the nostrils slowly and gently. As our practice went intense, the breath becomes slower and slower.

It was an exhilarating experience to perform worship on the banks of Ganga. We perform worship ceremony of Lord Shiva and Lord Ganesha on bank of river in morning time. It was an unforgettable experience to learn yoga in unison where practitioners were from cultural background and nationality. The priest wearing typical cultural dress chanted mantras in Sanskrit.

Yoga connects you like two rivers merge at the confluence and travel together till they merge in the same sea. Yoga is the union of individual consciousness with the universal consciousness. During entire yoga session, we remain connected with other yoga practitioners. The chanting of mantras in group gives spiritual pleasure to every practitioner.

My First Experience with Spirit Yoga Foundation is Remarkable.

"My first experience with “Spirit Yoga Foundation” was remarkable. It offers a unique class of yoga, meditation & ayurveda. I am thankful to Yogi Simant for giving in-depth training of meditation process including various breathing methods.

Initially my body was adapting a great inflow of oxygen intake. It is my first time feeling all my nadis are vibrating. My whole body is filled with energy. I began to go deeper into my meditation. An intense heat or energy goes up my spine and began to feel my subtle body. Besides yoga and meditation, every day I have a philosophy class by Mr. Sandeep on yoga. Its very enlightening to know the origins and concepts of various yoga methodologies. Each morning, Yoga Instructor Sanjay personalised coaching on Hatha yoga. My body has transformed from a stiff body to a flexible body. Now, I am feeling my body getting lighter and lighter each day.

Ayurveda class is another great experience to me to learn about the theories of our body system and various treatments and function of the herbs. Thanks to Dr Chandra and therapist Viswas having the patience to explain in details. Every evening, I was coached my Yoga Instructor Sanjay in Astanga yoga. Initially, it’s very difficult for me. As the day goes by, my muscles began to grow stronger. This unique inward journey has indeed very enlightening and transformational, not only on the physical aspect but also on the mental and the soul level. It’s a detoxify and purification of the body, soul and mind, reaching to a higher stage of consciousness. It was an inward journey of self-discovery. Once again, appreciate all teachers who have guided me in this sacred journey that will always remain indelible in my heart."

"My name is Sonja Johnson, and I came to Rishikesh in hopes of expanding my knowledge of Yoga and Ayurvedic medicine. Having competed my 200hr yoga teacher training (Astanga) in Canada, my expectation was that I would learn more about the ancient form of Hatha Yoga, from which our more modern modalities originated. My husband and I had been thrilled to find the Spirit Yoga Foundation, which offered a 15 day Hatha Yoga/Ayurveda course in the Himilayan mountains, and were armed with our bit of knowledge of this traditional Indian medicine and open minds.

Little did we know that we would learn so much more than we’d hoped, and have and experience of a lifetime.

The course’s main focus was yoga...mind, body and consciousness. Developing harmony between the 3 and accessing our conscious minds can only be done through meditation. Meditation is a technique that is completely different from what I’d understood before I came here. It is a combined practice of cleansing the body through breath, breathing exercises, purification techniques and concentration of the mind. Some of these are not for the faint of heart, and I found that over the 2 week period, my body and mind went through highs and lows that I could never have imagined. The first week was euphoric. My energy was amplified, my stamina was through the roof, and my clarity of mind was incredible. Then it took a turn and for nearly 4 days I felt almost as though I was having an out of body experience...as if I was walking through a dream. Having suffered from anxiety in the past, my brain kicked into panic mode and I backed off of the intensity of the breathing exercises, finding solace in the gentle practice of Nadi Shodun (nostril breathing) and meditation. All the while, Yogi Simant was there, holding our hands through it all and guiding us into the practice that would be best suited to each of us individually. At day 10, I found balance and started morning pranayama/meditation in peace. The anxiety subsided, and the world looked clear again.

I will take these practices and my experience home to Canada in hopes of teaching and expanding the understanding and practice of meditation in my home country."

"When my wife and I planned our trip to Rishikesh, India, we weren’t entirely sure what to expect. Our intention was to take a course on Ayurveda with some secondary Yoga training. Having heard so many stories about India (some good, some not so good), we trusted that the Spirit Yoga Foundation would provide us with a positive experience.

The next 15 days were some of the most transformative of my life. "I’m Li Nuo from china, as a foreigner coming to India was an amazing experiences. The yoga that was thought to me was truly an out of this world feeling. It thought me to calm and to have patience and discipline. My health got batter and I feel light on my feet.

The meditation technique to help to my mind and the berating (Pranayam) excises make me totally relaxed and I feel have more energy. The yoga practise was so organized and the teacher we kind and well trained in yoga. They trained and thought us with all their heart and soul.

I did the Inner Manthan Meditation Course. It gave me inner strength which comes with spirituality. As a government official it allows me to easily handle the pulls and pressures of office and home. It’s imperative to remain mentally relaxed in stressful situations; instead of reacting psychologically a peaceful mind can solve problems logically.

I was well versed in Hindu scriptures. I was pleasantly surprised at the accuracy of pronunciation of chanting powerful ancient Mantras. At Spirit Yoga Foundation I experienced the tremendous energy that was released by the chanting of holy mantras. Spirit Yoga Foundation follows the right satvik practices so its atmosphere always radiates bliss. I found it to be an excellent way to connect with inner consciousness and experience inner peace.

The 200 hours Teacher Training Course has given me a slimmer better toned body and enhanced my health. Due to enhanced fitness level I am able to work for longer hours in a better manner. The Teacher training course has improved my patience level so I am able to perform seemingly tough tasks without getting hassled. I am able to teach my children in a better manner. The bonding in our family is high and we support each other quite well.
